Women's Golf Finishes Second At Tech Classic

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The UAB women's golf team finished second after shooting a final round 325 at the Tennessee Tech Lady Eagle Classic Tuesday afternoon at the par-72, 5,857-yard Ironwood Golf Course. UAB's 646 total was 16 shots back of winner Murray State.
Senior Heather Lourie (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) and freshman Brooke Mangan (Mornington, Victoria, Australia) led the Blazers after shooting identical scores of 78-82/160 and sharing fifth spot.
Cuyler Hedley of Murray State(72-75/147) was the individual medalist.
Also for the Blazers, Katie Kane (Baton Rouge, La.) finished tied for ninth with a 162 total and Christina Gushanas (Pearland, Texas) shot a final round 79 for a 164 total and a tie for 14th place. Jenni Elmore rounded out the Blazer squad with a 168, tied for 19th.
The Blazers will return to action on Sept. 17-18 at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate in Memphis, Tenn.
