MILWAUKEE (AP) - Cordell Henry scored 21 points and Dwyane Wade added 12 as Marquette held off UAB for a 67-59 victory Tuesday night.
P.J. Arnold led the Blazers (8-9, 1-3 Conference USA) with 14 points, but was just 5-of-17 from the field. Eric Batchelor, Will Campbell, Eric Bush and Morris Finley each had 10 points for UAB, which has lost seven of eight on the road.
Marquette (14-3, 3-1) led 31-25 at halftime and opened the second half with a 10-4 run.
Scott Merritt scored underneath to put the Golden Eagles up 49-36 with 8:40 remaining, but UAB rallied within 57-51 on Finley's free throw with 3:33 left.
The Blazers crept within 63-59 on Finley's jumper with 47 seconds remaining, but Henry made four free throws down the stretch.
Marquette preserved its lead by making all 10 of its free throw attempts over the final 3:04.
Merritt and Odartey Blankson each added 10 points for the Golden Eagles.
Marquette used an 11-point run midway through the first half to go in front 22-15.
The Golden Eagles shot 54.5 percent in the first half, making eight of their final 12 field goal attempts en route to the six-point lead. Henry had 11 first-half points on 5-of-8 shooting.
