Cajuns Are Too Much For UAB

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Jon Van Cleave threw for 242 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown pass to Fred Stamps, as Louisiana-Lafayette beat UAB 34-0 on Saturday night.
Lafayette (1-3) had 365 total yards, including 96 on the ground from Jerome Coleman. The Cajuns held UAB (1-3) to just 94 yards passing and 236 total yards.
Lafayette led 10-0 at the half after a 37-yard field goal by Sean Comiskey and Van Cleave's scoring pass to Stamps. UAB blocked another field-goal attempt by Comiskey with 14:10 remaining in the second quarter.
Coleman scored on a 1-yard run and Comiskey kicked a 45-yard field goal in the third to make it 20-0. Jamal Smith intercepted a pass and ran it back 43 yards for a touchdown with 23 seconds remaining in the third.
Elliot Temple had a 1-yard TD run in the fourth to cap the scoring for Louisiana-Lafayette.
Stamps led Cajun receivers with 111 yards on five catches. Josh Joerq had 54 yards on three catches and Blake Bourque caught three for 40 yards.
UAB's Darrel Hackney was 4-of-11 for 35 yards, and Thomas Cox was 2-of-9 for 59 yards. Kendal Gibson had 63 yards on 11 carries for UAB.
