BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Nick Coon caught a 91-yard touchdown pass and Trey Chaney ran for 99 yards as UAB beat Army 24-9 Saturday in Conference USA action.
Coon, a true freshman, has six catches this season, three of them for touchdowns of more than 50 yards.
Trey Chaney totaled his 99 yards on 21 carries for UAB (4-5, 3-2 Conference USA). Zac Dahman completed 34 of 51 passes for 238 yards and one touchdown for Army (0-9, 0-7), and Seth Gulsby caught nine passes for 41 yards.
UAB opened the scoring midway through the second quarter on Chris Williams' 91-yard TD pass to Coon, who caught a 45-yarder early in the third to set up Nick Hayes' 50-yard field goal.
In the fourth, Coon set up another score by getting behind the Army defense and drawing a pass-interference penalty. That led to Williams' 19-yard run that made it 24-3.
The Black Knights recovered three fumbles in UAB territory in the third quarter, but managed only Anthony Zurisko's 36-yard field goal. Army's only touchdown came on Dahman's 27-yard pass to Walter Hill with 5:18 left in the game.
UAB's Jhun Cook blocked two punts, one that Dominique Cosper recovered in the end zone to give UAB a 14-0 halftime lead.
