BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's basketball team will be back in action Saturday as the Blazers take on unbeaten LSU in the Nokia Sugar Bowl Classic at New Orleans Arena.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT and the contest will be televised by Fox Sports South and can be heard on the Blazer Sports Network (WYDE 101.1 FM).
The Blazers (6-2) are coming off a 79-67 victory at home last Tuesday over Louisiana Tech. The Tigers (7-0), who will be playing their first game this season away from their homecourt at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, defeated Tulane Tuesday in their most recent outing.
The Green Wave will be in action against Mississippi State Saturday in the opening game of the Sugar Bowl Classic.
UAB will face one of its biggest challenges of the early season in the Tigers who have yielded just 51 points or fewer against opponents in the last three games.
The Blazers' inside game will be tested by LSU senior Jaime Lloreda who averages 22 points per games. Freshman Brandon Bass is averaging 12 points per contest.
Following Saturday's contest in New Orleans, the Blazers return home to meet Marshall Tuesday night at Bartow Arena (7:30 p.m.).
