Men's Basketball To Host Marshall

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's basketball team will play host to Marshall on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 8 p.m. in Bartow Arena. The game will be "25-Cent" Hot Dog Night and "Kids Night Out". Kids 12 and under get in free with the purchase of an adult admission.
The Blazers (6-3) and Thundering Herd (3-4) will be meeting for the first time in the series' history when the teams do battle in Bartow Arena. Marshall, which will be joining Conference USA in 2005, will be playing its first game since Dec. 20, while the Blazers will be playing their sixth game in 15 days.
Most recently, UAB snapped its three-game win streak when it lost to LSU, 78-62, in the Sugar Bowl Classic in New Orleans. The Blazers have five players who average at least 9.6 ppg, led by Ronell Taylor's 12.9 ppg. Mo Finley (12.7 ppg) and Gabe Kennedy (12.1 ppg) also average double figures. Kennedy leads the team in rebounds (6.0), blocks (1.0) and FG percentage (.593), while Demario Eddins leads the team with 2.9 assists.
Marshall enters Tuesday's game after a 10-day layoff. The Herd last played on Dec. 20, dropping an 83-65 decision at Massachusetts. The Herd are led by Ronny Dawn's 12.3 ppg, while Marvin Black averages 11.9 ppg. Black also leads the team with 7.3 boards per game, while A.W. Hamilton averages a team-high 6.6 assists. Dawn is the Herd's top outside shooter, averaging 56 percent from behind the arc.
