UAB Volleyball Plays Host To Mercer On Tuesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB volleyball team concludes its homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m., as the Blazers host Mercer in Bartow Arena. UAB currently holds a 4-0 advantage in the overall series with the Bears.
The Blazers (1-11, 0-2) are coming off a 3-0 loss to Charlotte on Saturday. Cassi Ociesa leads the Blazers with 104.0 points on the season. Ociesa has 70 kills, 40 block assists, 12 solo blocks and two service aces in 37 games for UAB. Freshman middle blocker Nicole Bowland leads the team with 87 blocks, 2.42 kills per game, 12 service aces.
Mercer comes into the match with a 7-9 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the Atlantic Sun. The Bears fell at Campbell, 3-0, on Saturday after beating Gardner-Webb, 3-0, on Friday. Julie Darty leads Mercer with 216 kills on the season, including 3.66 kills per game.
