UAB Volleyball On The Road To Face Cincinnati And Louisville

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB volleyball team heads out on the road this weekend, as it resumes conference play with two matches. On Friday, Oct. 8, the Blazers take on Cincinnati at 7:30 p.m. (ET), while on Saturday Oct. 9, UAB battles Louisville at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
The Blazers are coming off a 3-1 loss to Mercer on Tuesday. UAB was led by junior outside hitter Isabel Oquendo's match highs of 17 kills and 20.0 points. Oquendo recorded a .279 hitting percentage and a match-high three service aces. The Blazers are 1-12 overall and 0-2 in C-USA action.
Cincinnati (10-6, 2-0 CUSA) have won five matches in a row, including a 3-1 victory over Western Kentucky on Tuesday. The Bearcats are led by Julie Dupont's 304.0 points and 4.98 kills per game. Julie Newell is Cincinnati's best attacked, with a .306 hitting percentage.
Winners of four-straight matches, Louisville starts the weekend with an 12-2 overall mark, including a 2-0 conference record. Lena Ustymenko has several team highs, with 193 kills, 3.86 kills per game and 15 service aces. The Cardinals have dropped one game in their last four matches. Louisville faces USF on Friday before hosting the Blazers.
