BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Freshman Jeremy Evans shot 8-of-8 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line and Western Kentucky went 14-of-14 on free throws as the Hilltoppers beat UAB, 69-54, Tuesday night.
The game was tied 28-28 at halftime, and UAB (3-3) took a 35-34 lead early in the second half before Matt Mareska's basket with 14:32 to play ignited a 13-2 run that put Western (6-1) in control the rest of the way.
Courtney Lee added 13 points and Tyrone Brazelton 12 for the Hilltoppers, who bounced back from a 101-68 loss to defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Florida last Friday night in Las Vegas.
Paul Delaney led UAB with 15 points in the game, while Jeremy Mayfield came off the Blazers' bench to score 10 points.
