Delaney Named C-USA Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior guard Paul Delaney III of the UAB men's basketball team has been named this weeks Conference USA Player of the Week for the second time this season as announced on Monday.
Delaney picked up his second C-USA Player of the Week award this season after leading the Blazers to a pair of overtime victories last week. In Tuesday's 88-81 double overtime victory over Minnesota, Delaney collected 25 points and five assists playing all 50 minutes.
Following that contest, Delaney played the entire game (45 minutes) in the team's 58-57 overtime win against DePaul, again accounting for 25 points, three assists and a season-high four steals.
For the week, Delaney averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. Additionally, he becomes the first UAB player in school history to play 95 minutes in back-to-back contests. The junior guard currently ranks third in the conference in both scoring (20.6 ppg) and assists (5.22 apg).
UAB will be back in action on Dec. 16, when it travels to play Virginia Commonwealth at 6:30 p.m.
