Blazers Handle Winston-Salem With Ease

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Wen Mukubu scored a career-high 24 points and Lawrence Kinnard added 15 to lead UAB to a 84-53 win over Winston-Salem Saturday night.
Mukubu hit two 3-pointers to spur UAB (7-5) to a quick 12-0 lead. The Blazers led 42-16 at halftime and the lead grew to 38 points in the second half.
The Rams (1-15) are in their first season of Division I basketball and have played 13 of 16 games on the road. Saturday night's loss was their 12th consecutive defeat.
Andre White scored 13 points and Maurice Gibbs had 10 to round out the double-digit scoring for the Blazers. Paul Delaney III, UAB's leading scorer with an 18.9 average, was held to nine points but had 12 assists and a team high seven rebounds.
Darious Floyd scored 20 points and Brian Fisher added 17 for Winston-Salem.
UAB extended its home winning streak to 17 games with the victory.
