Stefanov Named Conference USA Setter of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Conference USA Office announced Monday that UAB junior setter Nevena Stefanov is this week's C-USA Setter of the Week. Stefanov helped the Blazers to a 3-0 record last week by recording 56 assists in all three contests. This marks the third time in her career and second time in three week's Stefanov has earned the award.
Stefanov played a key role in the Blazers' wins over Mercer (3-1), Marshall (3-2) and East Carolina (3-1) last week. She averaged 12.92 assists per game for the week.
At Marshall on Friday, the Serbian helped UAB earn a 3-2 victory by recording her fifth double-double of the season with 56 assists and 10 digs.
She also served seven aces during the week.
The junior currently ranks third in the league in assists per game at 12.16 and is fifth in service aces, landing 0.50 per game.
UAB is currently in a three-way tie for third place in the Conference USA standings. The team will next be in action on Friday when it hosts Houston at 7:00 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
