UAB Loses Season Finale At Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The UAB volleyball team dropped its final regular season match of the 2007 season at Middle Tennessee Friday night, 3-1 (30-24, 30-19, 20-30, 30-25). The Blazers finish the season with a record of 24-10, while Middle Tennessee improves to 33-2. Junior Lilly Domingos led the Blazers against the Blue Raiders with 14 kills on .367 hitting.
Senior Brianna Galvin finished with a team-high 14 digs to move her career total to 1,649, just two shy of the school record set by Danielle Reaves in 1991.
Sophomore Andrea Lalic recorded 12 kills in the match, while senior Fernanda Domingos and junior Casey Dent also finished in double-figures with 11 kills each.
Junior Nevena Stefanov had a match-high 50 assists.
Middle Tennessee was led by Ashley Adams, who posted 18 kills on .366 hitting and Ashley Asberry, who totaled 17 kills on .481 hitting to go along with 13 block assists.
Middle Tennessee finished with 20 total blocks.
After Middle Tennessee sped out to a 2-0 lead in the match by winning games one and two by a combined 17 points, UAB came back in game three and used a five-point run to take a 21-14 lead on a Blue Raider attack error.
The Blazers continued to roll through the third game from there, closing out a 30-20 victory on a kill by Lilly.
UAB took an early lead in game four, but the Blue Raiders rallied to go on a 6-1 run to take a 14-12 lead on a Blazer attack error.
Middle Tennessee never trailed from there, closing out the game, 30-25, on a kill by Asberry.
