East Carolina enters the weekend with a 12-6 overall record and a 5-1 mark in American Conference play. The Pirates won their first five conference matches before falling to Florida Atlantic in their most recent outing.
During their five-match winning streak, the Pirates swept Charlotte twice, UTSA and North Texas in three sets while earning a 3-1 victory over Rice. Despite the loss to Florida Atlantic, East Carolina claimed two sets in the match.
Fourth-year player Ellie Pate was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording 37 kills across matches against Charlotte and Florida Atlantic. Pate has recorded double-digit kills in 14 of the Pirates' 18 matches this season and is hitting .223 on the year.
Friday's contest will be the only meeting between UAB and East Carolina during the 2026 season.
