Dunbar and Waters Led Blazers In All-Conference Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Senior safety Will Dunbar and junior placekicker Swayze Waters headline the UAB football team selections on the Conference USA Coaches All-Conference Teams as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Dunbar was a first-team defense selection while Waters earned a spot on the second-team, while also being named an honorable mention punter. Jake Seitz, Adam Truitt, David Sigler, Frantrell Forrestt and Joseph Webb all received offensive honorable mentions. Joe Henderson, a second-team C-USA Media selection, and Kevin Sanders received honorable mentions, on the defensive side.
Dunbar was the league's leading tackler, averaging 12.2 stops in ten games, which currently ranks fourth in the nation. In addition, Dunbar finished the season with two interceptions, an interception return for a touchdown, and five tackles for loss. He was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10 after 17 tackle and interception return for a touchdown against Florida State. Dunbar received first-team All-Conference USA Media honors last week.
Waters, who handled all of the Blazers' kicking duties this season, hit 22-of-28 field goals on the season, with 11 field goals made from 40 yards or further. Waters set numerous school records during the season, including the most field goals made in a single-season and field goals made in a game (5), which also tied the league mark.
Waters' 52-yard field goal against Alcorn State tied the school record for longest made field goal. He was a first-team All-Conference USA Media member.
As a punter, Waters averaged 41.4 yards per punt on 69 tries, with 22 landing inside of the 20-yard line.
Truitt and Sigler, both seniors, received their first all-conference selections. Sigler enjoyed his best offensive year as a Blazer, catching 17 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown. Truitt, a versatile lineman played in nine games for the Blazers, while anchoring the front five for UAB.
Webb, who also spent time at the quarterback this season, was named honorable mention wide receiver. His 30 catches and 459 receiving yards both ranked second on the team. He also had three touchdown catches.
Forrest, who set freshman wide receiver records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns, was named honorable mention as well. Forrest finished the season with 49 receptions, 563 yards and five touchdowns. He enjoyed his top game at Mississippi State with seven catches for 122 yards and touchdown.
Henderson, who was named to the second-team All-Conference USA Media this season, was tabbed as honorable mentions at the linebacker position. His 109 tackles and 9.1 stops per game both rank seventh in the conference. He recorded five sacks, two interceptions and 9.5 TFL.
Sanders, who started every game at cornerback this season for the Blazers, received his first postseason league award. He led the Blazers with three interceptions and two forced fumbles, and was sixth on the team in tackles with 35.
