BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ------ The UAB football team continued its preparations Wednesday for this weekend's Conference USA contest with Tulane. The Blazers will go against the Green Wave Saturday at the Louisiana Superdome. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. CT.
With the game in New Orleans just three days away, UAB head coach Neil Callaway said his team still has to work to do after what he saw on the practice field Wednesday.
"I was disappointed with the practice today," Callaway said. "I thought we looked like we were going through the motions today. We've got to have some guys show more leadership. Yesterday's practice was pretty good, but we didn't come out here today and show that same effort."
UAB and Tulane have met six times previously with the series tied at 3-3. The Blazers claimed a 26-21 victory over the Green Wave last season at Legion Field.
Saturday's contest will represent UAB's first trip to New Orleans since the 2004 season when the teams played the second-highest scoring game in Conference USA history, a 59-55 Tulane victory. This Saturday's game will be the Blazers' first appearance in the Louisiana Superdome since the 2002 season as the 2004 shootout was played at Tad Gormley Stadium in nearby Metairie.
Saturday's game will be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network. It can be heard locally on WWMM 100.5 FM radio in Birmingham.
