BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team worked in shells on the practice field for nearly two hours here Wednesday as the Blazers look ahead to their next contest, a Nov. 15 date against Tulane in New Orleans.
UAB practiced in full pads Tuesday and will go in full pads again Thursday before taking a couple days off for their second open date in the past three weeks.
A large portion of Wednesday's practice was spent working on fundamentals as well as some early preparations for Tulane, who the Blazers will meet in the Louisiana Superdome a week from Saturday.
"I thought we had a good practice," said UAB head coach Neil Callaway. "I think the guys are still mad and embarrassed (about last Saturday's loss at Southern Miss) and I believe they're working hard to try to do things the right way."
Callaway said Thursday's practice will be much like Tuesday's, concentrating on fundamentals with some competition and planning for Tulane.
The Blazers and Green Wave will kick off on Nov. 15 at 2:00 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the Blazers ISP Sports Network on WWMM 100.5 FM radio.
