BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Senior men's basketball player Lawrence Kinnard has been selected as the UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
The Memphis, Tenn., product posted a strong fall semester in the classroom and is off to a fast start on the court, as well.
Kinnard is nearly averaging a double-double with 16.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game through the Blazers' first 10 contests. Against Jacksonville State on Wednesday, the forward poured in 25 points, grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds and tied a career-high with five three-point field goals.
Academically, Kinnard managed a 3.1 GPA during the fall semester. He is a history major with a minor in mass communications.
Kinnard and the Blazers return to action Saturday at 3 p.m. CT with a non-conference game at ninth-ranked Louisville. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
