LINCOLN, Neb. -- Fresh off its first ever NCAA tournament win, the UAB volleyball team returns to the court Saturday in the second round of the 2008 NCAA Volleyball Championship.
The Blazers will face No. 4 overall seed Nebraska at 5 p.m. CT on the Huskers' home court at the NU Coliseum.
The match, which will be televised statewide in Nebraska by Nebraska Educational Television, will also be streamed live on the Internet. Click here to visit the tournament homepage, and follow the links for the webcast.
UAB (27-7) advanced with a 3-0 win Friday over Missouri State, while Nebraska (28-2) defeated Liberty, 3-1, to earn its spot in the second round.
The Blazers are looking forward to the opportunity to play against one of the most successful programs in college volleyball.
"Obviously, Nebraska has a storied history here and a great, great team," UAB head coach Kerry Messersmith said, "but we're going to go out and give Nebraska the best match we possibly can. I know the girls feel the same way. We're not going in with any fear. We want the girls to have a great experience, and that's part of it."
Saturday's meeting will be the first ever between UAB and Nebraska in volleyball. The winner will advance to the Seattle Regional to meet Michigan, which already advanced out of the second round Friday with a win over No. 13 seed Saint Louis.
