BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Two days away from an important matchup against East Carolina, the UAB football team practiced for an hour and a half in shorts and helmets Thursday morning at the UAB practice field.
"We had a good practice this morning," UAB head coach Neil Callaway said. "We still have work to do, but we have Friday to walk through some things before Saturday's game."
The Blazers (5-5, 4-2 C-USA) have won three straight games heading into Saturday's contest against East Carolina (6-4, 5-1 C-USA). Each team has a pair of C-USA games left on their schedules, both of which will be important as they battle for the top spot in the C-USA East Division and the opportunity to reach the league's championship game.
Although there is a lot at stake for the UAB football team Saturday, Callaway and his staff are working hard to keep the team focused.
"We are constantly reminding them and preaching about what we need to do Saturday," Callaway said. "East Carolina is a very good football team, so we need to make sure that we do our part and get all the little things right."
Callaway named senior QB Joe Webb and sophomore WR Nick Adams as the offensive captains, sophomore LB Lamanski Ware as the defensive captain and junior LB Darrion Wilson as the special teams captain for Saturday's matchup.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. CT) Saturday, and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network broadcast of the game will be televised in Birmingham on ABC 33/40.
The game will also be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network and can be heard in the Birmingham area on flagship station WUHT-FM 107.7 with David Crane (play-by-play) and Jake Arians (color) on the call. The pregame show will begin 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
