Slowly but surely we're starting to develop an identity as a team. We have several different but interchangeable parts. We have kids who truly want to be coached. That's not to say that they get it all right all the time. They don't. But they're beginning to understand almost before we correct them, just what they did wrong. That tells me that we have a chance to get better and better as this season moves along. We are developing a bench that will continue to improve and increase our depth. That of course is beneficial for the team in the long run.
The atmosphere tonight was electric! It's really hard to put into words just how much that support means to our guys. This was truly a "homecourt advantage" I want to go back though to the fans that traveled to Jacksonville State on Tuesday. Our kids were shocked to see the Green & Gold faithful form that gauntlet outside the bus leading them into the arena. Then to get inside Pete Mathews Arena and here the group just take over and dominate the JSU fans, put our guys at ease even more and they responded well out of the gate. That was terrific. Tonight's crowd should definitely take some credit for this win. As I said during my talk in the Green & Gold room before the game, "we want a championship atmosphere because we are going to give you a championship effort". I think we both kept our ends of that bargain.
Let's do it again on Tuesday when Troy comes calling. Don't take anything for granted. I know we won't. Over 6200 fans for the UGA game... I would hope we can come really close to that number on Tuesday night. This team is very much a work in progress, but I really like the direction it's going. Hopefully you do too.
GO BLAZERS!
