Jared Koechner Named UAB Student-Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Jared Koechner, a senior member of the Blazer football team, has been selected as the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.
Koechner owns a 3.45 overall GPA as an accounting major at UAB. He was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll as a junior in 2008, his first year with the Blazers after transferring from Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College.
On the field, Koechner has played in all 11 games this season and made three starts on the UAB offensive line. The Louisburg, Kan., native has helped the Blazers become the top rushing team in C-USA and the sixth-ranked rushing attack in the country at 232.2 yards per game.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Sunday night on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:35 p.m. on ABC 33/40.
Koechner and the UAB football team (5-6, 4-3 C-USA) are preparing for their final regular season game this weekend. The Blazers host UCF on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT at Legion Field.
