Blazers Complete Day One Of UC Spring Invitational

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. - The UAB women's golf team is tied for 13th place following two rounds of competition on day one of the UC Spring Invitational on Friday. The Blazers shot rounds of 333 and 318, respectively, at the Plantation Golf Resort for a 36-hole score of 651.
Host-school Cincinnati is leading the tournament after carding rounds of 300 and 308 for a day one total of 608. USF is in second place with a score of 615 and Baylor rounds out the top three with a 616.
Sophomore Jaime Brabb was UAB's top performer and is tied for 36th place in the individual standings after recording rounds of 82 and 78 for a 36-hole total of 160.
Senior Alyson Mitchell and sophomore Lindsay Taylor tallied identical scores of 161 to tie for 42nd place overall. Mitchell shot 82 and 79 on the day, while Taylor had rounds of 81 and 80.
Senior Christina Wentworth shot a 169 to tie for 74th place, while sophomore Emi Boozer tied for 83rd with a score of 175.
"We didn't shoot very well during the first round," said UAB head coach Kim Wilcox. "But, they responded with a much better second round. Hopefully, we can use that as momentum for Saturday's final round."
The third and final round of the UC Spring Invitational will be held on Saturday with a 9 a.m. ET start time.
