BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team returned to the practice field Wednesday morning as the Blazers continue their preparations for this Saturday's 2010 home finale against Memphis.
With their practice fields still wet from two days of rain earlier this week, the Blazers worked out on the turf at Birmingham-Southern Wednesday.
"We did some 11-on-11 work today which was good to get the fast pace and the tempo going," UAB head coach Neil Callaway said after the workout. "We had a short practice yesterday (because of inclement weather) so we got a little behind.
"We've still got tomorrow and Friday, so we will continue to work on getting ready for Memphis."
With their last game coming on Thursday last week, the Blazers have had a couple extra days to work on their preparation, as well as some additional rest. "That has helped us some," Callaway said. "Hopefully, we were able to get a little fresher, and I think it helped with the installation for Memphis."
The Blazers and Tigers will meet in Saturday's "Battle for the Bones" rivalry game with kickoff set for 3 p.m. CT at Legion Field.
Saturday's game will be carried live on the Blazer Sports Network, airing locally on 107.7 WUHT-FM. David Crane, John Whitcomb and Otis Leverette will call the action with the pregame show beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT.
