BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB football team practiced for an hour and a half Thursday morning in shorts and helmets, continuing to fine-tune the gameplan for its final home game of the 2010 campaign Saturday against Memphis.
The Blazers were able to return to the UAB practice fields Thursday after rainy weather forced them to practice on the turf at Birmingham-Southern Tuesday and Wednesday.
"Today we had a typical Thursday practice," UAB head coach Neil Callaway said. "Although Tuesday's practice was shorter than normal, we had already worked out Sunday, which allowed us to have normal practices Wednesday and today. Now we are just finishing up what we are working on for Memphis and getting ready to go."
Callaway named senior WR Mike Jones as the offensive captain, senior DE Bryant Turner as the defensive captain and senior LB Caleb Dyck as the special teams captain for Saturday's contest.
The Blazers and Tigers will meet in Saturday's "Battle for the Bones" rivalry game with kickoff set for 3 p.m. CT at Legion Field.
Saturday's game will be carried live on the Blazer Sports Network, airing locally on 107.7 WUHT-FM. David Crane, John Whitcomb and Otis Leverette will call the action with the pregame show beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT.
