Robert Williams Named UAB Student-Athlete Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Robert Williams, a redshirt freshman guard for the Blazer men's basketball team, has been selected as the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.
A starter in all six games this season, Williams is averaging 4.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 53 percent from the floor and 62.5 percent from three-point range.
Over the past three contests, he has raised those numbers to seven points (including a career-best 11 a week ago against South Alabama) and 3.7 rebounds per game.
In the classroom, the Greenville, Miss., product carries a 3.35 GPA as a communications major. He is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was UAB's representative to attend a Conference USA SAAC convention this past summer in Dallas, Texas.
Williams and the men's basketball team (5-1) are in the midst of a stretch of four games in seven days, which continues Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT against Jacksonville State at Bartow Arena.
