BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team continued its preparations Wednesday for this week's final game of the season at Florida Atlantic.
The Blazers worked out for close to two hours at Legion Field as they work toward Saturday's contest with the Owls at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. CT.
The game can be heard on the Blazer IMG Sports Network with the pregame show starting at 1:30 p.m. CT. David Crane and John Whitcomb will call the action. Locally in the Birmingham area, the contest can be heard on WUHT-FM 107.7.
There were no classes at UAB on Wednesday because of the Thanksgiving break, so the Blazers moved their practice time to late morning.
UAB (3-8, 3-5 Conference USA) will be looking for its third straight win when they take on winless FAU (0-10, 0-7 Sun Belt). The Blazers are coming off a 34-31 win last week over No. 20-ranked Southern Mississippi.
Still, Blazer head coach Neil Callaway knows his team needs to be ready to play Saturday afternoon. "We need to stay focused," Callaway said. "I think they are a very capable team. Their defensive front is very physical. "
Callaway also talked about his respect for FAU head coach Howard Schnellenberger. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for him," Callaway said. "Look what he did not only in college football, but in pro ball, being in Super Bowls and all that stuff. He did a great job at Miami and a great job at Louisville. His record kind of speaks for itself. "
The Blazers will have a light practice Thursday morning before departing for Florida Friday afternoon.
