Serley Named To C-USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Sam Serley of the UAB volleyball team was selected to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season, announced by the league office.
The Nashville, Tenn. native has maintained a 3.77 GPA as a health care management major, along with an accounting minor as a student-athlete at UAB. She has twice earned both the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and been named to the league's honor roll.
Serley helped the Blazers earn the AVCA Team Academic Award in 2010, along with earning Presidential Honors and being named to the Dean's list multiple times.
On the court, the middle blocker was a force for UAB, finishing third in C-USA in hitting percentage (.351) and blocks per set (1.31). She also earned her first C-USA Offensive Player of the Week award on Oct. 10.
With the selection of Serley, a player from the UAB volleyball team has been named to the league's all-academic team each of the past six years under head coach Kerry Messersmith.
