I certainly didn't envision the first five (5) games of the season going like this. In fact, quite the opposite. Despite the fact that we lost some very important pieces, I felt we had enough experience returning and enough depth from some veterans and the newcomers that we would experience some growing pains, but that we could win games in the process. That hasn't happened and we find ourselves in a situation of trying to find some answers and make some adjustments right away. Our four losses were all winnable games. It's been different things that have risen up to bite us in each of those games. We held leads with just over eight (8) minutes to go but did a poor job of closing in our first couple of games. In the last couple we have not competed at the level necessary, for a long enough period of time to come away with wins. Draw your own conclusions about why that has been the case, but from my seat I won't point fingers. We fell into this drought as a team and we'll find a way to fight ourselves out of it as a team. It's really easy to splinter at a time like this, but that does no one any good with so much of the season still in front of us. We must get back in the "laboratory" today and tomorrow before heading off to South Alabama and get things worked out and on the right track. These kids want to win; they want to represent this program in the best way possible; and they want to continue the legacy that has been built here. They're learning what it takes to do all of that. We've got to point them in the right direction and lead the way. It's going to be a bit of a process, but it's a long season. What they need is your continued support. Stay with them. We'll get better and when it's all said and done you will again be really proud of your Blazers.
Thank you for your unwavering support...GO BLAZERS!!!
