KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ----- UAB's Stephanie Gammon raced to a winning time in the 10,000-meter run here Friday night as the Blazers completed a successful day of competition at the 45th Annual Sea Ray Relays.
Gammon, a senior from Central, S.C., clocked a time of 36:24.94 to cross the finish line first in the final women's event of the evening as heavy rains fell on Tom Black Track.
Earlier in the day, Blazer senior Nora Mehl registered a runner-up finish in the high jump, finishing with a best jump of 5-8 3/4 (1.75m). Louisville's Rachel Grant won the race with a jump of 5-10.
Junior Clara Cid also was impressive with her third place showing in the 5,000-meter run, clocking a personal best 17:32.09.
UAB's Lauren Fayen was among the participants in the Invitational 800-meter run and ran to a time of 2:12.81 to finish in 10th. Tennessee's Chanelle Price was winner in the event with a time of 2:06.90.

UAB's Kara Woods ran to a time of 2:31.90 in her 800-meter race while Kyana White clocked a time of 57.60 in the 400.
"We had some good performances today," said UAB head coach Kurt Thomas. "There were several girls who came out and competed really well. Nora had a really good high jump and is close to a big jump. Stephanie ran in a constant rain, and ran 20 seconds faster than a few weeks ago and won the 10k. She did a great job. Clara a big collegiate PR in the 5000m, and ran really well.
"We were not sharp in a few events, and need to be better for the rest of the season," Thomas said. "We have some good races tomorrow in the 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x800m and 4x400m. We will bounce back and have some great races tomorrow."
