BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB running back Darrin Reaves and wide receiver/return specialist Jackie Williams have picked up Conference USA Player-of-the-Week honors after their outstanding performances in last Saturday's 38-31 victory over Marshall at Legion Field.
Reaves was tabbed as the league's Offensive Player-of-the-Week while Williams was named the C-USA Special Teams Player-of-the-Week, the league office announced Monday.
Reaves, a sophomore from Birmingham, ran for 184 yards on 32 carries and scored on touchdown runs of four and 17 yards. His 17-yard score with 2:50 left in the game helped seal the game for the Blazers.
Williams, a junior from Prichard, Ala., returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown midway through the first quarter for UAB's first points of the game. Williams also caught a pair of passes in the game and extended his streak to 33 games with at least one catch.
Reaves has been on a tear of late as he has rushed for 573 yards and seven touchdowns in the past three games. He has increased his touchdown total to 13 for the season, a UAB single-season record and the top number in Conference USA this season among rushers.
Reaves has 928 rushing yards on the season. In addition, he is UAB's third-leading receiver with 32 catches for 251 yards.
Williams is the Blazers' top pass-catcher with 41 receptions for 700 yards and a touchdown.
UAB will play its final home game of the 2012 season Saturday when the Blazers play host to Memphis at 1:00 p.m. at Legion Field in the annual "Battle for the Bones."
