BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB men's basketball team will hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Omaha, Neb., to take on the 13th-ranked Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday at the CenturyLink Center Omaha.

On The Blazers
• UAB is led by first year head coach Jerod Haase (rhymes with class), who spent the last 13 seasons as an assistant under Roy Williams at North Carolina and Kansas.
• The Blazers enter Wednesday's tilt with a 1-0 record after defeating Young Harris College (DII) last Saturday, 105-59.
• In the season opening win, six players reached double figures, led by Jordan Swing and Robert Williams who each charted 17 points.
• The 105 points scored tied for the 13th most in program history, and marked the most by a Blazer squad since defeating Belmont,107-76, back on Dec. 15, 2004.
• In total, UAB shot 53.6 percent from the floor along with making 11 of 21 3-pointers (52.4 percent) and 20 of 24 foul shots (83.3 percent) against YHC.
On The Bluejays
• Creighton moved up the top-25 charts after defeating North Texas, 71-51, in its season opener to rank No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the Associated Press Poll.
• The Bluejays were picked to win the Missouri Valley Conference, after finishing the 2011-12 season second in the league with a 14-4 record and 29-6 overall.
• Preseason All-American Doug McDermott captured the MVC Player of the Week award after posting a double-double - 21 points, 11 rebounds - in the win over North Texas.
