UAB Notes
UAB Leads Nation In Rebounding
» According to ESPN.com’s statistical rankings, UAB is the No. 1 rebounding team in the nation, averaging 48.2 boards per game. The Blazers have recorded over 50 rebounds four times this season (54 vs. Rutgers, 53 vs. Troy, 62 vs. New Mexico and 52 vs. North Carolina). The 62 against New Mexico represents the fifth time in school history that UAB has had 60-plus rebounds. The school record is 69, which came against South Alabama on Dec. 20, 1994.
» The Blazers have doubled up two opponents this season on the boards. UAB doubled Rutgers’ rebound total of 27 as the Blazers had just as many offensive boards (22) as the Scarlet Knights had defensively. Against Troy, UAB outrebounded the Trojans, 53-24, including a 39-16 advantage on the defensive glass.
Blazers Meet Alabama A&M For Ninth Time
» UAB meets Alabama A&M for the ninth time in school history on Sunday. The Blazers hold an 8-0 advantage in the all-time series with each contest coming at Bartow Arena.
40-Plus Boards In 10 Games
» UAB has recorded 40 or more rebounds in 11 of its 12 games this season and has hit that mark in six-straight contests. The Blazers have also held the final rebounding edge in every game but the Nov. 24 loss to Temple.
Blazers Win Five-Straight From Nov. 27-Dec. 18
» UAB rode a five-game win streak from Nov. 27-Dec. 18. It was the Blazers’ longest win streak since the 2009-10 season when the Blazers won seven in a row from Jan. 2-Jan.26.
Williams, Alihodzic Have Career Games Vs. Chattanooga
» In his first start of the season on Dec. 18 against Chattanooga, senior Rob Williams tied his career high with 11 rebounds, including nine in the first half. Meanwhile, fellow senior Fahro Alihodzic set a career high with four blocked shots to go along with his 10 rebounds. Alihodzic has now recorded 10 or more rebounds in four games this season.
Getting Back In The Swing
» UAB’s Jordan Swing scored in double figures in three-straight games from Dec. 7-Dec. 18. Swing scored a season-high 17 points against Chattanooga on Dec. 18 -- the first time he has led the Blazers in scoring in a single game on the year.
UAB’s 28-0 Run Lifts Blazers Past Georgia Southern

UAB Stuns No. 16 North Carolina
» Head coach Jerod Haase, who played for and coached under UNC head coach Roy Williams at Kansas and North Carolina, picked up a signature win on Dec.1 when the Blazers downed then No. 16 North Carolina, 63-59, in front of a near sellout crowd at Bartow Arena. UAB led by as many as 15 (33-18, 1st half) against the Tar Heels despite shooting just 30. 6 percent (19-of-62) for the game.
» The Blazers, who led most of the game and only trailed twice against UNC, overcame a tough shooting night by outrebounding UNC, 52-37, including a 21-11 advantage on the offensive glass.
» The win against No. 16 North Carolina marked the first time UAB has defeated a ranked opponent since downing No. 16 Butler at Bartow Arena in 2009. It also marked UAB’s first-ever win against the Tar Heels.
Frazier Garners Two-Straight C-USA Honors

Frazier, who scored 25 points vs. No. 16 North Carolina, is the first player in UAB history to win back-to-back C-USA Player of the Week honors. The Blazers have now won three C-USA Player of the Week honors. UAB has never had more than four C-USA Player of the Week winners in a single season.
