Volleyball Defeats Georgia State, 3-0, On The Road

Leading the Green and Gold were junior Sara Rishell and sophomore Sam Skinner. Rishell tallied 11 kills and hit a career-high .476 attack percentage on the night. Skinner recorded her second consecutive double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs against the Panthers. She has now had double-digit kills in eight-straight matches.
On defense, junior Kiriana Hirini led the team with eight blocks and added seven kills for UAB. Senior Rachel Fairbanks tied her season-high in digs with 17 to propel the Blazers to the win.
The match started with a tight first set that had to go to extra points, with UAB edging out
In the second set, the teams battled back and forth once again as neither team had more than a two point lead. The Blazers were up 24-23 and a kill from junior Bethanie Thomas punctuated the 25-23 win for UAB to head into the break up 2-0.
By the third set the Blazers had taken control of the match. UAB stormed out to a quick 10 point lead, going up 15-5 and never looked back to take the win 25-12. The Panthers were held to negative .212 hitting percentage in the final set.
