Blazers Return From Off Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB football team returned to practice Monday at Legion Field after utilizing last week’s open date to recover and focus on notching its sixth win of the season.
“I thought we had a really good day and we needed it,” head coach Bill Clark said after Monday’s practice. “We needed the time off to heal up. The enthusiasm was really good and I told them that is how we should look. I could tell that we were just really beat up and tired.”
The Thundering Herd enter the contest with Conference USA’s top offense and defense, averaging just more than 47 points per game and holding opponents to 16.3 points per game.
“They are just really good and they do what they do really well,” explained Clark. “That is what good football is all about. They start with good defense and special teams. You look at the margin of victory and it’s obvious they know what they are doing.”
With the league’s fourth ranked offense at 33.5 points per game, Clark and the Blazers look to spoil Marshall’s unblemished record.
“We have approached every conference game as a playoff game and obviously this game is big for them,” Clark said. “I think that is what it is going to take for us to compete. It is a big Senior Day for us and the last game for our seniors in this stadium. We know we need a good effort to compete.”
Fans can listen to Saturday's contest on the Blazer IMG Sports Network with David Crane (play-by-play), Steve Irvine (analyst) and Sam Miller (sideline reporter) on the call.
