BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Sara Rishell was named to the 2014 All-Conference USA Second Team, the league announced on Tuesday. It is the second time Rishell earned all-conference honors in her career.
Rishell, who was the only player to appear in and start all 32 matches, finished the 2014 season second on the team with 263 kills, averaging 2.29 per set in 2014. She led the Blazers with a .322 hitting percentage, which ranks eighth in C-USA.
The Smithsburg, Md. native also led the Blazers with 112 blocks. She put down a season-high eight blocks in the win over Georgia State and had at least four blocks in 16 of UAB’s 32 matches this season.
In her senior season, she recorded a career-best .700 attack percentage against Iowa and matched that mark against North Texas with seven kills on 10 attempts. Rishell tallied double-figure kills in eight matches.
