BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Emily Rudolph of Chesterfield, Mo. has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the UAB volleyball team for the 2015 season, head coach Kerry Messersmith announced on Monday.
“Emily is an exciting recruit for us,” Messersmith said. “We have been watching her for quite some time and she just gets better and better. She is a tremendous athlete that we feel will be able to come in and make an immediate contribution in the middle.”
Rudolph, a 6-foot middle blocker, played varsity volleyball at Marquette High School. A captain for her high school squad, she earned all-district honors and received Honorable Mention All-State after finishing with 173 kills on .439 hitting in her senior season. She also added 241 service aces and 85 blocks.
During her high school career she was a two-time all-conference and all-region selection (2013, 2014). Rudolph was also a scholar athlete and voted MVP of her Marquette squad. She recorded 159 kills and 117 total blocks to help her team to a 26-15 record and a trip to the state championship in 2013.
Rudolph also played club volleyball for head coach Shane Allen at the Show Me Volleyball Academy. There, she competed at the USAVB National Championship in 2013 and the team finished third in 2014.
She will finish her senior year at Marquette before joining the UAB volleyball team for the 2015 season.
