UAB Volleyball Falters Against FAU, 3-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB volleyball team fell in straights sets to Florida Atlantic as the Owls recorded a 3-0 victory Friday night in Bartow Arena.
The Blazers (8-16, 0-9 C-USA) tallied the first point of the night with a kill from junior Amber Treace. The two squads battled back-and-forth in the early going with four ties until Maja Ristic's kill gave the Owls (13-6, 5-2 C-USA) a 7-6 lead.

FAU closed the second set with a 4-0 run to win, 25-13, and take a 2-0 advantage at the break. Florida Atlantic secured the sweep with a 25-10 victory in the final set.
Junior Gabby Deshotel led the Blazers with 11 kills. The outside hitter tallied two digs and one block assist. Sullivan and freshman Victoria Young each added four kills to the Blazer attack.
Ristic's 10 kills led the FAU offense. The Owls totaled 44 kills compared to 23 by the Blazers.
UAB begins a short road slate next Friday when the Blazers travel to No. 22 Western Kentucky. First serve against the Lady Hilltoppers is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
