Women's Golf Completes Fall Opener at Memphis Intercollegiate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sophomores Sydney Snodgrass and Kayla Wilbourn led the way for the UAB women's golf team, as the Blazers finished the Memphis Intercollegiate tied for 11th at the Ridgeway Country Club Tuesday.
The Blazers improved on Monday's scores by 20 strokes, carding a 17-over, 301, in the final round Tuesday to jump two spots in the 15-team field.
Snodgrass shot even par in 14 of her 18 holes on the day, dropping two bogeys, one double, and one birdie to finish the day at 3-over, 74, and tied for 41st overall at 22-over, 235.
Wilbourn began her round with a birdie on the 17th to get to 1-under, and finished the round with 12 pars, two birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey at 3-over, 74, for the day, and 23-over, 236 overall in a tie for 46th.
Rebecca Chandler also finished the event tied for 46th after carding a 7-over, 78 Tuesday to finish 23-over, 236 overall.
Newcomer Imy Huxley turned in her best score of the tournament on Tuesday, carding a 4-over, 74, in her final round. She finished her first collegiate event in 62nd at 27-over, 240.
Juliana Sebastian rounded out the UAB lineup, finishing tied for 70th at 32-over, 245 after shooting an 82 in Tuesday's round.
Tournament host Memphis coasted to the team title, finishing the event at 22-over, 874, 33 strokes ahead of second place Ole Miss. Memphis' Madison Thomas defeated her teammate, Ashleigh Whisenant in a one-hole, sudden death playoff to claim individual honors.
The Blazers return to the course Sept. 27-29 at the Chris Banister Golf Classic in Jacksonville, Ala.
