GLENCOE, Ala. - The UAB women's golf team fired a team score 317 on Sunday to open up play at the Chris Banister Golf Classic.
The Blazers fired a 29-over and sit in a tie for eighth of the 12 teams at the 54-hole event held at the Robert Trent Jones Silver Lakes Golf Course.
Newcomer Imy Huxley led the way for the Green and Gold, shooting a 5-over, 77, to sit in a tie for 18th.
Juliana Sebastian finished just a stroke off Huxley's tally at 6-over, 78, in a tie for 22nd after her first round.
Sydney Snodgrass carded an 8-over, 80, to sit in a tie for 28th, while Rebecca Chandler and Jessica Rouillard both finished at 10-over, 82 for the day.
Tournament host Jacksonville State turned in a 19-over, 307 to lead the way by one stroke over Murray State and Alabama State.
The Racers' Moa Folke and Sydney Trimble, and JSU's Angie Varona, all carded 73s to lead the individual field entering Monday's second round.
UAB will go off with Samford and South Alabama on Monday beginning with tee times at 9:12 a.m. on the 10th hole.
