PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The UAB women's golf team sits in eighth place after playing 36-holes in the first two rounds of the Jacksonville Classic on Monday at Marsh Landing Country Club.
"We did fairly well for not having a practice round," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "The girls held it together during the second round."
As a team UAB shot rounds of 307 and 300 for a two round total 607 (+31).
Sydney Snodgrass led the way for the Blazers with round rounds of 76 and 74. She picked up three birdies on the day and enters the final round in a tie for 15th place.
Kenna Hughes continued her strong fall with rounds of 75 and 76 and is in a four-way tie for 20th.
After shooting a 78 in the first round, Maria Donado rebounded in the afternoon to shoot a two-over 74 and is tied for 24th.
Making her first appearance in the lineup this fall, Kayla Wilbourn carded rounds of 78 and 79 and is tied for 49th going into the final round.
Hughes, Donado and Wilbourn are the only three Blazers this season to have all of their rounds in the 70s with Donado firing a 69 at the first tournament of the season.
Host Jacksonville leads the tournament after a two-under 286 in the second round. The Dolphins swam seven spots up the leaderboard after the first round.
Michelle Forsland of Jacksonville leads the individual competition at two-under par after rounds of 75 and 67.
UAB tees off the final round at 8:30 tomorrow morning. The Blazers are paired with Jacksonville State and USC Upstate for the closing 18.
"We are looking forward to improving tomorrow," Wilcox said.
