Blazers Close Strong On Opening Day of Steelwood Collegiate

Loxley, Ala. - On the strength of an improved second round showing, the men's golf team stands alone in eighth-place following 36-holes at Steelwood Country Club.
The Blazers shot a 302 (+14) as a club in the opening round but were able to bounce back in round two with a 298 (+10). R.J. Keur once again led the way, firing the low score in each round (71 and 72, respectively) and is currently in a tie for eighth-place among individuals. Murray Naysmith turned in a 73 (+1) in round two, as the redshirt sophomore teamed with Keur to propel the Blazers up the leaderboard to close out the day.
Senior John Hayden finished at +7 to card the second lowest score among Blazers and is tied for 31st.
Alabama (-3), Kennesaw State (+3), Kentucky (+8), Rice (+9) and host South Alabama (+10) round out the top-five of the twelve team field. Only five strokes separate the Blazers and sixth-place Liberty (+19).
Three individuals are tied for first place at -4, as the tournament has six players represented in the Golfstat.com top-100, including Keur at No. 92.
