DONNIE MARSH - Men's Basketball

It's been quite a while since I last posted a blog. I thought it might be best that I spend the time trying to do my part to help right the ship of our season. I didn't think you would mind that. I had four (4) consecutive scouting assignments as well as defensive preparation for games that weren't my specific scouts. That takes more time than you can imagine. But with the week long "break", I thought I would post one. I can't remember exactly where we left off but let's just assess where we are right now. We've made some strides in a lot of areas and we find ourselves very much in the thick of things as we wind down to the final two (2) weeks of the regular season. Some teams have four games left, and others only three (3). We have approached the past several games as one (1) game seasons. Each game, in its own right, being the most important game of the season. That approached has fared us pretty well. Since our disappointing outing against ECU we have won five (5) of our last six (6) games. Now on the horizon is the re-match against the Pirates next Saturday. With two road games remaining, we stand 4-2 away from Bartow. Our effort on the road has been focused and intense and that is a huge reason we have experienced some success. We will need that same approach when we travel to Greenville, NC. In addition (for me at least), there is a large chip on our shoulders as this team has beaten us the last 2 times we've played. In their minds I'm sure they feel they have our number. It will be up to us to change that. We have a shot at a ten (10) win conference season. With the way this league is shaping up who knows where that can land you in the conference race. More importantly is the momentum that can give you heading into the C-USA Tournament. The match-ups in these next couple of weeks can shake things up. It's an exciting time for everyone. We get a chance to rest a little this week and then gear up for an energetic, passion-filled run towards the finish line. We've begun to get some important contributions from guys off the bench. All our guys understand unless we are fighting, we don't give ourselves much of a chance. So we have impressed upon them how critical it is for us to "glove up" every night we take the floor. I think that message is getting through.
In case I don't have a chance to blog again before our final home game (February 29th), please make plans to come out and recognize our seniors playing their final game at Bartow Arena. That is always an emotional and exciting time and I hope you will join us. It's stretch run time for the Blazers! Let's "Glove Up and Bring the Fight"!!!
GO BLAZERS!!!
