UAB Returns Home to Face Jackson State, Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With less than a month remaining until the Conference USA Championship, the UAB men's tennis team looks to continue its winning ways when it hosts Jackson State on Saturday, March 24 and Alabama A&M on Sunday, March 25.
Saturday's match is slated for a 1 p.m. first serve at the UAB Tennis Courts, while Sunday's match will begin at noon at George Ward Park in conjunction with the UAB women's team's match which is also against Alabama A&M.
The doubleheader on Sunday will be the first time that both the men's and women's teams will compete simultaneously during the regular season.
UAB (9-6, 0-2) is coming off two-straight road wins in the Sunshine State, defeating Florida Gulf Coast, 4-3, before sweeping Bethune-Cookman, 4-0.
Sophomore Tim Dollman continues to be the Blazers' top player in both singles and doubles, leading the team with an 11-2 singles record in the top spot. He has also recorded nine doubles victories on the year with his partner, Stefan Gonzalez, including wins in each of their last two matches.
Fellow sophomore Giovani Pasini has been lights out as of light as well, winning his last six matches in singles play to improve his season record to 8-7. The majority of his damage has come in the five spot, where he is an impressive 6-1.
Anru Fourie and Kenton Parton have been another strength in doubles play, posting an 8-4 record on the year in the three spot to help the Blazers post a 25-14 overall record in doubles.
The Blazers last faced Jackson State in 2016, sweeping the Tigers 7-0 in its final home match of that season. UAB squared off with Alabama A&M during the 2017 campaign, sweeping the Bulldogs, 5-0.
