BIRMINGHAM– The UAB bowling team travels to Chesapeake, Va. to begin postseason play at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Championship on March 20-21.
Senior Samantha Johnson and junior Jamie Krasnigor was named to All-MEAC Conference teams earlier in the week. Johnson was named to the second-team and Krasnigor was named to the third-team.
All four teams competing this weekend are ranked in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) including No. 4 North Carolina A&T, No. 12 Delaware State and No. 19 Monmouth.
The team will begin the MEAC Championship with a double-elimination tournament beginning with a pair of Mega Matches (a best-of-three format with a five-person team match followed by Baker total pinfall and then Baker best-of-seven) – pitting No. 1 North Carolina A&T against No. 4 UAB, with the other matchup being No. 2 Delaware State against No. 3 Monmouth.
Saturday will conclude at 3 p.m. with the winners of those two matches facing off in the top bracket, while the losers from the morning matches will face each other in the elimination bracket.
Saturday's winner from the top bracket will advance to Sunday's championship final. The winner from the bottom bracket Saturday afternoon will compete on Sunday at 9 a.m. against Saturday afternoon's losing team from the top bracket. The winner of that match will advance to the championship match at 12 p.m.
Competing this weekend will be Cayla Davidson, Katie Hurley, Samantha Johnson, Jamie Krasnigor, Haley Kvarnberg, Elise London and Shauna Rodgers.
