UAB Volleyball Hosts Blazer Invitational

BIRMINGHAM — The UAB volleyball team host the Blazer Invitational at Bartow Arena Sept. 3-5. The Blazers will open the Invitational against Georgia Southern on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. The Eagles will face Kennesaw State in a neutral site match on Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. UAB will then close out the event on Sept. 5 versus the Owls at 2 p.m.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers opened up the 2021 season at the Troy Invitational Aug. 28-29 in Troy, Ala. In the tournament, Fernanda Maida led the team with 28 kills and 16 digs in two matches. Setter Lidya Canturk leads the team with 33 assists on the season.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Georgia Southern (3-0) looks to continue its winning ways as they are undefeated on the season. The Eagles are led by Senior Hannah McGlockton, who leads the team in kills this season with 39.

SCOUTING THE OWLS
Kennesaw State is led by Lauren Chastang who has recorded 47 kills in three matches. Sophomore McKinley Ferguson has assisted on 132 kills.
