UAB Hosts Blazer Invite at Mary Bowers Field

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB softball team is hosting the Blazer Invite this weekend at Mary Bowers Field. The Blazers will face IUPUI, North Alabama, and Austin Peay at Mary Bowers Field. A full tournament schedule is listed below:
Friday, February 25:
10:00 a.m – IUPUI vs. Austin Peay
12:30 a.m. – UNA vs. Austin Peay
3:00 p.m. – UAB vs. IUPUI
5:30 pm. – UAB vs. UNA
Saturday, February 26:

UAB LATELY: The Blazers are coming off a weekend in the Blazer Classic that saw UAB drop two games to Murray State, and collect two victories versus North Dakota, and one win against Toledo. Lindsey Smith leads the Blazers in slugging percentage. Olivia Valbak has the team lead in strikeouts with 20, while Sarah Cespedes holds a 3-1 record. 11 Blazers currently hold perfect fielding percentages.
SCOUTING THE FIELD-
IUPUI:
The Jaguars are coming in trying to shake a three game losing streak, with their last game being a 0-9 setback versus Tennessee State. Mackenzie Myars owns the Jaguars lone home run of the season, while Madison Bryant leads the way at the mound with 30 strikouts.
NORTH ALABAMA:
The Lions come to town riding a four game win streak, outscoring opponents 37-8 over that stretch. Emma Broadfoot leads UNA in hits with 15, and Maci Birdyshaw holds a 4-0 record from the mound, to go along with 40 strikeouts.
Austin Peay: The Governors are 7-3 this season, and will be looking to build on a three game win streak. Lexi Osowski leads her squad in slugging percentage with .719%, while Kylie Campbell and Mea Clark have two homeruns each. Jordan Benefiel is the top pitcher for Austin Peay, with 35 strikeouts and a 4-1 record.
Friday's games are a part of Youth Jersey Friday, where any fan aged 17 and younger can get free admission to the game when wearing a school/club jersey or shirt.
Sunday's game is a part of Sunday Funday, where fans 17 and under get free admission with the purchase of an adult ticket. After the final game of the day, fans in the 6th grade and under can run the bases.
Softball season tickets are available by purchasing the 2021-22 Gold Card for $65 here. The 2021-22 Gold Card will get you access to all home events for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial). This card is not valid for Conference USA or NCAA Championship events.
