BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team looks to continue its success at the Bayou Beach Duals hosted by Tulane this Friday and Saturday, March 11-12. The Blazers are coming off a 4-1 outing last week at LSU.
While at Tulane, the Blazers will face the host Green Wave, Southern Miss, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Houston Baptist.
UAB (4-5, 1-1) defeated both Southern Miss and Texas A&M Corpus Christi last week in Baton Rouge by identical scores of 3-2. UAB is now 4-1 all-time against Southern Miss and also picked up its first C-USA victory of the season with the win over the Golden Eagles.
Both Ella Alexander and Naomi Ortiz went 4-1 last week as they anchored the back end of UAB's lineup. Alexander split time on courts four and five, while Ortiz played all of her matches on court five.
The top of UAB's lineup also played well last week as Rachel Tam and Adriana Pereira on court one and Dylynn Otte and Emma Andraka on court two both went 3-2.
Tulane is UAB's most common opponent as Friday marks the 21st meeting between the two programs. UAB defeated the Green Wave last year in Gulf Shores, but Tulane won 2-of-3 matches against the Blazers in 2021.
