Men's Tennis Falls to William & Mary, Old Dominion in Virginia

WILLIAMSBURG & NORFOLK, Va. – The UAB men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches in Virginia over the weekend to two teams in the ITA Top 75, falling 4-3 to No. 72 William & Mary and 6-1 to No. 60 Old Dominion.
No. 72 WILLIAM & MARY 4, UAB 3
UAB opened Saturday's match in Williamsburg with a win in doubles, winning on courts two and three to start the match with a 1-0 lead. After dropping the opening doubles match 6-1 on court one, Roman Postolka and Nikola Puric earned a 6-2 win on court three to knot the doubles point at 1-1.
Thanos Spyropoulos and Parker Bradbary then sealed the doubles point on court two with a 7-6 (7-4) victory. Postolka would make it a 2-0 Blazers' lead with a 6-1, 6-2 win on court four in singles before Old Dominion tied the match at 2-2 with wins on courts five and three.
UAB would then jump ahead 3-2 when Michal Lusovsky earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over William & Mary ace Harrison Brown. The Tribe, however, would rally from a 3-2 deficit with wins on courts two and six. William & Mary's Daniel Pellerito clinched the win for the home team with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 win on court six.
No. 60 OLD DOMINION 6, UAB 1
The Monarchs opened Sunday's match with a win in doubles and never trailed in UAB's second conference match of 2021-22.
Roman Postolka earned UAB's sole victory in singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court three. Michal Lusovsky dropped a tightly contested battle to Old Dominion ace Luca Maldoner in three sets when Maldoner rallied to post a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory.
UP NEXT
UAB will return to Birmingham after an 11-day break to face nearby foe Samford at 2 p.m. on March 31. Samford will serve as the host school for the local matchup.
