UAB Beach Volleyball Travels to Atlanta for GSU Digging Duals

BIRMINGHAM – Riding a five-match winning streak, the UAB beach volleyball teams heads to Atlanta this weekend for the GSU Digging Duals hosted by Georgia State this Friday and Saturday, April 7-8.
The Blazers have another huge opportunity for a quality wins this weekend as three of the four teams they will face are nationally ranked.
UAB opens the tournament on Friday with No. 16 South Carolina, followed by facing 2022 NCAA Tournament participant UT Martin. On Saturday, the Blazers square off with No. 20 Stetson and No. 11 Georgia State.
The Blazers are coming off a 4-0 weekend at home and have improved their record to 13-10 overall. UAB has defeated one ranked opponent this season (No. 19 Tulane) and looks for more marquee victories in Atlanta. With a minimum of nine games remaining this season, the Blazers are aiming to surpass the 17 wins plateau to break the school wins record which they set last season.
Senior Emma Andraka was 4-0 last weekend, and in the process became UAB's all-time leader in career wins with 54. She surpassed Tressa Buckland who registered 52 wins from 2016-19.
Additionally, two other Blazers moved into the top 10 for career wins as Ella Alexander is now currently eighth with 44 and Arden Copping is ninth with 43.
Following the weekend in Atlanta, UAB returns home to host the Blazer Beach Bash and welcomes Tulane, Southern Miss and Central Arkansas to Blazer Beach on Saturday and Sunday, April 15-16.
